Job Description

Labor & Employment Attorney | New York | Hybrid | $140,000–$190,000 + Bonus

\n

\n

I'm working with an established national law firm that's looking to bring a Labor & Employment Attorney into its New York team.

\n

\n

They're ideally looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in employment law or business litigation. There's a good mix of contentious and advisory work, and the firm is open to attorneys who have a broader litigation background rather than exclusively employment law experience.

\n

\n

A Bit About the Opportunity

\n

The team handles a broad range of employment matters for its clients, from day-to-day workplace advice and discrimination claims through to more complex litigation in state and federal courts.

\n

\n

It's a hands-on role where you'll be involved in matters from an early stage, working alongside experienced attorneys but also having the opportunity to manage your own work and deal directly with clients.

\n

\n

The firm has a national presence and an established client base, so there's plenty of variety in the work and access to the resources you'd expect from a larger practice.

\n

\n

What Would You Be Working On?

\n

Depending on your background and experience, your work could include:

\n
    \n
  • Handling employment litigation in state and federal courts
  • \n
  • Investigating discrimination and workplace-related claims
  • \n
  • Preparing position statements and responding to administrative charges
  • \n
  • Advising employers on day-to-day employment issues
  • \n
  • Drafting and reviewing employment policies, handbooks and related documents
  • \n
  • Conducting legal research and drafting motions, pleadings and other legal documents
  • \n
  • Working directly with clients and helping develop litigation strategies
  • \n
\n

\n

There's a good balance between litigation and advisory work, which could appeal to someone who enjoys being in court but also wants to develop the counseling side of their practice.

\n

\n

What Are They Looking For?

\n

You'll need to be admitted to the New York Bar and have 3+ years of relevant experience.

\n

\n

Ideally, you'll have a background in employment law, employment litigation or business litigation, with experience handling matters in state and federal courts.

\n

\n

Strong writing, research and communication skills are important, as is the ability to manage your own workload and work well with other attorneys.

\n

\n

The firm values strong academics, but they're equally interested in how you approach your work, your litigation experience and your ability to build relationships with clients.

\n

\n

Why Consider It?

\n

A few things worth knowing about the role:

\n
    \n
  • Salary : $140,000–$190,000 base, plus bonus opportunities
  • \n
  • Hybrid working, with some flexibility around remote arrangements
  • \n
  • An established national firm with a broad client base
  • \n
  • A mixture of employment litigation and advisory work
  • \n
  • Direct client exposure and the opportunity to take on more responsibility
  • \n
  • Access to mentorship, trial training, CLE and ongoing professional development
  • \n
  • Different career paths depending on your longer-term goals
  • \n
\n

\n

It could be a good fit if you're currently in a role that's heavily focused on litigation and would like to broaden your employment practice, or if you're looking for a firm with a national presence without sacrificing flexibility.

\n

\n

Interested in Finding Out More?

\n

If you'd like to hear more about the firm, the team or the work they're handling, feel free to send over your resume or get in touch for a confidential conversation.

\n

\n

You don't need to be actively looking. I'm always happy to speak with attorneys who are curious about what else might be available in the New York market.

\n

\n

You can reach me directly on 332 777 6411. If you're tied up with court appearances, client meetings or deadlines during the day, I'm happy to work around your schedule.
