Adecco Staffing is partnering with a manufacturer in Westerly, RI seeking a first shift machinist. The schedule for this opportunity will be 6AM-3PM Mon-Fri with potential for OT and the pay range is $25-$27 depending on experience.

Position Summary

Responsible for the operation of manual and CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision products according to engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications. This role performs lathe, milling, and grinding machine operations, conducts in-process inspections, performs routine maintenance, reads and interprets blueprints, and works collaboratively with team members to meet production and quality objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Operation

• Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinding machines.
• Ensure necessary tooling, cutters, fixtures, and materials are available before production begins.
• Monitor production runs and make machine adjustments as required to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, comparators, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Verify that inspection equipment calibration is current and compliant with company standards.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Handle the separation and containment of precious metal materials as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer skills related to machine shop operations and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC machining experience in a production environment.
• Experience with prototype manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and quality control procedures.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour
