Water Line Locating SpecialistSummary: Process all requests to locate water and sewer lines and locate distribution and collection lines to prevent damage during excavations by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Retrieves, evaluates, prioritizes, and clears requests to locate water and sewer lines.Utilizes precise methodologies to accurately identify and mark the location of water mains, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the distribution system.Works collaboratively with various HCWA departments to fulfill in-house locating requirements, providing valuable insights to contractors and engineers involved in current and future projects.Engage in effective communication and coordination with various HCWA departments to streamline the water line locating process and address project-specific needs.Operates sophisticated electronic locating equipment, including GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), Vivax 810, and metal detectors, to enhance precision in identifying and tracing water lines and associated infrastructure.Stays abreast of advancements in water line locating technologies and methodologies.Maintains meticulous records of water line locates, capturing details such as the lines' depth, type, and condition.Provides regular reports detailing the results of water line locating activities, contributing to the overall documentation of system infrastructure.Adheres to stringent quality assurance measures to verify the accuracy of water line locates.Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and industry guidelines, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining the highest safety and accuracy standards.Engages in continuous professional development to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of water line locating skills.Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Georgia Driver's License, Flagging Certification, Competent Person Certification, and Confined Space Certification.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
